The technical part of the device is also top-notch – for the first time among personal breathalyzers, the technology of electrochemical analysis of ethanol vapors is applied. Previously, electrochemical sensors were used only in special and professional breathalyzer models. All other personal breathalyzers still rely on morally outdated semiconductor sensors. AlcoFor 107 is a new long-awaited step in the technology of manufacturing measuring devices for personal use. The sensor described above, paired with an air volume sensor, allows sampling air at a higher quality level; measurement is conducted after a deep continuous exhalation from the part of the lungs sufficiently enriched with ethanol vapors from the blood (if present). The sample volume is fixed, controlled by a built-in micro pump in the breathalyzer, which activates only at the required exhalation intensity and at the end of blowing. All this makes the analysis of exhaled air very accurate, reduces measurement errors, and increases stability (very close results upon repeated blowing in a short time interval). The electrochemical sensor is less sensitive to the environment compared to semiconductor analogs. Its performance is not affected by wind, temperature fluctuations, humidity, etc. The time from turning on to measurement result is slightly more than 30 seconds. Low power consumption allows up to 500 tests on one quality battery.
